Is it ok to be “not ok”?
We live in the world where people believe in creating
standards for everything- measuring or trying to fit in particular scale for
every aspect. But here the question arises that how do you see yourself- from
your own perspective or other’s perspective? This question leads you to a
tunnel of thoughts…
Most of the people, especially women, don’t like their body
and don’t feel comfortable in it just because they don’t have “perfect” body,
their body is not like the ones which are shown in magazines or in social media
and people assume that their body is not perfect enough or they are lacking in
something. Here there a concept of body shaming starts. Yes, body shaming is
not only done by others but also by ourselves. Fat shaming or thin shaming is a
real shame!!!
We are usually told that our weight, height, hairs and also
the skin color should be “perfect” and this thought has deeply rooted in our
minds like nothing else. Is it really necessary to fit in those scales? Ask
yourself are you just a number on the scale?
Many times people are body shamed by others either
intentionally or unintentionally but they don’t realize how deep their one
mocking comment can be for that person. Just passing one general comment can
affect that person a lot because that person is not only hearing this comment
from you but also from so many other people out there and slowly this leads to
the under-confident person. Many different diet plans, exercises are tried just
to fit in. Being fit and being fat/slim is often misunderstood. One should
definitely stay fit but not necessary to constraint oneself to any scale or
number that too because of someone else’s pressure. You should never give
anyone this authority to tell you how you should look.
It really starts from you, try to accept yourself the way
you are. Change only for yourself. Just feel beautiful about yourself. Be your
own critic. Be healthy- no matter fat or thin. Other people’s opinion won’t
really matter if you believe that you are beautiful this will definitely lead
to a confident person.
Its only about how to perceive yourself!!!
